about us

The Country Barn Garden & Farm Market is owned and operated by David Weaver and my wonderful family. We moved to Fairview Kentucky in 1998, and then in the spring of 1999, The Country Barn opened for business in a small portable building in an otherwise vacant soybean field landscape. Our focus back then was to raise produce with some flower production, but as time went on the flower production gradually took precedence over produce production and more greenhouses were added across the creek from the retail facility.

In 2005 and 2006 we added a larger greenhouse and a small addition to our small market building, with a renewed vision of bringing fresh vegetables and healthy plants to the market place. But being a small family farm with minimal working capital for retail expansion brings many challenges. Regardless, our great customer loyalty demanded retail expansion, so the following 11 financially difficult years brought small improvements to our retail store, outdoor retail area, and product lines, and helped produce much of the Country Barn Garden & Farm Market you would see today. This environment demanded a resilience, and produced innovation often not found in larger businesses. Interior greenhouse space quickly became inadequate, causing us to spill out into the great outdoors with these young and tender plant starts, continuously sparring with the elements for optimal, manicured plant health. We have so much fun creating outdoor displays, unhindered by greenhouse benches and hoops. Our customers quickly recognized the benefits of healthier plants from being displayed outdoors and enjoyed strolling through our outdoor
plethora of creative displays.

2018 brought us to fulfilling a dream by incorporating Country Boy Café with indoor restrooms to our Garden and Farm Market. Our dream has always been to bring food, relaxation, and fun to the customer shopping experience, to be appreciated while they stroll among our plants and garden decor. This latest expansion also produced a larger variety of fresh fruits and vegetables, local honey, jams and jellies, a unique line of grocery items including dip mixes, teas, soup mixes, and so much more. Being a Garden Center, spring time is naturally the height of our entire shopping season. Be sure to stop by in springtime, for a dazzling and toe tingling tour through our plant displays, an exhilarating inhalation of “fresh loaf of bread” aroma, and the smooth savor of our homemade hand dipped ice cream. This has escorted the customers shopping experience to an almost other-worldly, absolutely blissful, and peaceful, and unforgettable encounter.
